SUPERPOWER OF SLOW STILLNESS – Nayeli Spela

I am observing how nature is still in winter. Leaves have dropped, and there seems to be nothing to do.

Yet, there is still movement.

Readiness for growth. For nourishment, for care.

Readiness is not a passive force.

It is an active patience—awake and alive inside stillness.

If I bring this quality into my dance, what would it change?

If I have enough time to begin, to warm up, to meet another, to finish, and to end… how would this influence my decision to be fully present?

How can I become awake and alive inside stillness?

How can I stay connected to the environment without reacting to it?

How can I witness what is happening without necessarily being moved by its influence?

How can I find silence in a space that is dominated by noise?

 

These are the questions that can easily be danced, but they can also be explored through life.

When I become still enough, present in the observations of my desires, needs, and wants, I can choose to react—or just witness.

I can notice that silence is not the opposite of noise; it is just less obvious and common.

To accept that I don’t need a noiseless place to experience silence—silence can reach me in another way. It can become a loud composer of my movement.

In slowness, I can follow the direction of my attention.

I observe the habitual patterns that want to force automatic responses.

But I’m curious: how can I dance beyond them?

To improvise the unspoken that is awake in me moment by moment.

 

If I allow myself the time, space, and stillness—not forcing, but welcoming,

I find myself in a unique composition that is only happening now and never again.

 

Jam is such a place.

What a unique gift to have it.

Osservo come la natura sia quieta in inverno.
Le foglie sono cadute, e sembra non ci sia nulla da fare.
Eppure, c’è ancora movimento.
Prontezza alla crescita. Alla nutrizione, alla cura.

La prontezza non è una forza passiva.
È una pazienza attiva—vigile e viva all’interno della quiete.

Se portassi questa qualità nella mia danza, cosa cambierebbe?
Se avessi abbastanza tempo per iniziare, scaldarmi, incontrare un altro, finire e concludere… come influenzerebbe questo la mia capacità di essere pienamente presente?
Come posso diventare vigile e vivo nella quiete?
Come posso rimanere connesso all’ambiente senza reagire a esso?
Come posso osservare ciò che accade senza necessariamente essere mosso dalla sua influenza?
Come posso trovare silenzio in uno spazio dominato dal rumore?

Queste sono domande che possono essere facilmente danzate, ma che possono essere esplorate anche nella vita.
Quando divento abbastanza quieto, presente nell’osservazione dei miei desideri, bisogni e aspirazioni, posso scegliere se reagire—o semplicemente osservare.
Posso notare che il silenzio non è l’opposto del rumore; è solo meno ovvio e comune.
Accettare che non ho bisogno di un luogo privo di rumore per sperimentare il silenzio—il silenzio può raggiungermi in un altro modo.
Può diventare un compositore potente e vibrante del mio movimento.

Nella lentezza, posso seguire la direzione della mia attenzione.
Osservo i modelli abituali che vogliono forzare risposte automatiche.
Ma sono curioso: come posso danzare oltre questi?
Come improvvisare l’inespresso che è vivo in me, istante per istante.

Se mi permetto il tempo, lo spazio e la quiete—non forzando, ma accogliendo,
mi trovo in una composizione unica che accade solo ora e mai più.

La Jam è un luogo così.
Che dono unico averla.
